Cloud computing is when you access online programs provided by service companies. It allows you to use and access your data from any computer, anywhere. Many people use it because, although they may pay a monthly access fee, it is more cost effective than personally purchasing the programs, and updates. They also don't have to worry about losing data, if their own computer crashes, The simplest form of cloud computing is the Internet-based email programs, such as Yahoo mail, and Hotmail. Hotmail account holders can also access limited use of cloud versions of Microsoft Office programs.

Cloud computing is a method of enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources which can be quickly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.

Cloud computing is, in its most abstract definition, a way of storing information somewhere over the net, in a shared pool of different computing resources. Moreover, you can think in terms of cloud computing not only when it comes to storing - you may think of restoring information, migrating it (just like what Cloud endure does), or even building a cloud infrastructure of your own.
