Wouldn't it make more sense for the US to have a special relationship with Canada instead of Israel?

And since Canada has no enemies, never attacks other nations and is rich in resources the US wouldn't need to constantly need to defend them and guarantee their protection or send them $3 billion dollars per year for no particular reason and get nothing in return except endless grief and complaining about who the president appoints.

Israel is worried by US sequester

Canada already has a special relationship with the United States. They are members of NATO and NORAD, they have various free-trade deals between the two countries (NAFTA or Canada-US FTA), they share immigration and border-scan information, they have hundreds of other agreements on everything from rivers, technology sharing, copyright laws, child custody agreements, etc., etc. They are each others largest trading partner, are each others largest tourism sources, etc., etc.

Having one friend, doesn't mean you can't have others.

And no Canada does have enemies and it has attacked other nations. It is equally hated for its sending troops to East Timor, its air attacks against Libya, etc. It's peacekeepers have been killed along the Egypt-Gaza border and in southern Lebanon.

I'm not saying that the US should or shouldn't support Israel... just that doing so has little impact on its relationship with Canada. Issues such as softwood lumber, US power-bailouts failing to pay their bills, blaming Canada for 911 terrorists, silly talk of building a wall, etc. do more to grief in Canada than US support for Israel.

Well, you'd probably enjoy International Relations if you're so interested in these questions. Besides this small note, Canada does share a privileged relationship with the United States. Both countries share many elements of their reciprocal cultures, both partake to the same international organizations, Canada's economy is extremely sensitive to the American economy (which makes the Canadian government very receptive to American interests) and their history are very closely related -- namely because the Province of Quebec and the War of 7 years are, among other things, direct causes of the American Revolution of 1773-1783.

Israel, our only friend in the Middle East? Israel, who's been attacked by all of her neighbors when all she wants is to be left alone and in peace? Ah, I see. What a bright boy you are!

Why don't you look up all the things Israel has contributed? Moron.
