how do the trends of yolo/swag affect our identity?

Basically i'm researching the media’s influence on the construction of identity, through the use of trends and such

    Yeah basically... the media is selective about what they broadcast, sometimes purposedly starting drama when they don't have anything to write about, and young people in general (most it seems like, but that's probably not the case) start following those trends wrongfully thinking it's the right thing to do because their favourite celebrity (even if it's not the case) or magazine says so, or jump on the bandwagon, and young impressionable people construct their identity based on it, and then it snowballs from there.

    It makes everyone over the age of 25 think you're all d-bags, but that happens with every generation. Yolo and swag will go away, and be replaced with something else just as stupid.
