Is prom really an important part of a teenager's life and development?

Looking back now, I feel like it's overrated.

Nope. But I did it anyway.

All the friends that didn't do it always tell me how they regret that they didn't go to prom senior year.

At least I went and had a good time.

Nope not really. It's basically a dance where everyone spends way too much to go when really all the want is the after party so that they can drink alcohol and go home with their dates.

I would say no for the development part but I think teenagers should experience it once.... So when you get older you can say you did.

I didn't go to any proms because I had no desire to go, never really thought about it. Don't think I missed anything.
