    Very much so.

A gay person who is not comfortable with being gay, or has not accepted the fact that he is gay may "act out" by being an especially abusive towards other gay people who are out.

This can include everything from harassment through assault and even murder. Many legislators and conservative religious officials are actually gay, and they're responsible for some of the most oppressive and vindictive legislation towards LGBTs while having gay sex on the side (cf. Idaho Senator Larry Craig, Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell and Texas Governor Rick Perry).

Yes in fact the majority of homophobes are gay or bisexual.

And most often they are sexually active in the same sex arena yet are terrified of exposure, or they are highly tempted yet managing to suppress their same sex desires.

I suspect the presence of a gay or openly bisexual person forces the subject into the open and so forces it to be the topic of conversation, something that the individual would rather not have to deal with. For them its best being a none discussed topic.

The following video exposes this better..
