Is this bad? (Shutter count)?

I recently bought a used Nikon D3100 and it has a shutter count of 16,151. Is that a bad number for a shutter count? Will the shutter not work anytime soon?

This is not bad at all really. You should have a few years life left in it.So don't really worry get out and enjoy taking photographs and your workhorse of a camera should serve you well. You have made an excellent choice by choosing a Nikon D3100.

It's all right. Most dSLR's are rated to 100,000 shutter actuations. 16,000 is a bit low but indicates fair use. It didn't see much action from its previous owner. Good for you!

You have used about 16% of the 100k shutter life expectancy.
