Flash hiders/flash suppressors on the AR-15?
I know very little about the AR-15 flash hiders/suppressors except that:
1. my AR's came with A2-style flash hiders
2. you typically need an armorer's wrench to remove and replace it
3. you need to replace the crush washer for proper indexing
4. Also, the A2-style flash hider is "solid" at the bottom to prevent dust from being kicked up when shooting from a prone position
What I don't know about them:
Q1. How do they work? Wouldn't 5 separate exits create a "bigger" flash than just one at the end of the rifle?
Q2. Does the flash hider help reduce "muzzle climb"?
Q3. Would a solid and heavier "hider" be better?
Q4. If I use a "solid" flash hider, would my bullet travel FASTER than with the A2-style?
Q5. Is it also designed to help disperse the sound? NOT lessen the sound, but spread it out over a larger volume?
