The bald eagle is one of America’s largest birds of prey. It can spot objects a mile away and swoop down to get its prey at an incredible speed. It is a symbol of great strength and power as well as the American symbol of freedom. It is hard to believe it was once on the endangered species list. It is believed that at one time, there were half a million eagles in North America. But by 1963, their numbers had dropped to 417 nesting pairs in the lower states because of the use of the pesticide DDT. Then after the pesticide was banned in 1972, the bird finally started to make a comeback. While bald eagles are no longer endangered, they still need our protection. We want to make sure that our future generations can still see this proud bird fly freely in the sky.
These days, as living costs keep rising, some people choose to stay home during their vacations to save money. They no longer go traveling due to a small budget. But, in fact, it’s possible to enjoy a trip without spending a fortune. For starters, travel during the off-season if possible. When tourism is in low season, flights and hotels become cheaper. Choosing a hotel that’s a little farther from popular attractions is also a good idea. You can save as much as 10 percent on hotel rates or even more. In addition to saving on hotels, you can look for deals on metro or subway passes. Use mass transportation rather than taking cabs when you move from place. You will be surprised by how much money you can save. Who says travel is expensive?
