Yeah, it's normal. The heat pump is going into defrost as predicated by the outdoor t-stat and the auxillary is kicking on to bump temp. The heat pump should kick back in when the outdoor t-tsat says that the heat pump is ready to do its work again.

Are the coils in the air handler freezing up? if so you're definetly low on freon. in case you saved resetting the c/b and continuously ran the a/c with low freon you are able to have burned up the compressor. you will no longer see any burned wires, by way of fact it may be all inner. it rather is like working a automobile without oil, the interior the compressor gets so warm and soders itself jointly inflicting a short and tripping the breaker. you are able to hold out a try with a multi-meter via finding out for continuity on the +/- connections on the compressor itself. yet you are able to have a knowledgeable expert come out and do a unfastened estimate and he will inform you what is going on.

yes is normal, but if getting hotter in defrost than you may have a problem with heat pump mode, need to have it serviced and checked out
