(D) is living 是 「be 動詞＋現在分詞」，是現在進行式，表示「現在在活」，那是誰現在活呢？ but 後面沒有主詞。 所以是錯的。

(B) living 是「動名詞」，它就是 about living 的 living。 因為英語不喜歡重複前面出現過的字，只要有些字前面出現了，後面能省則省，意思清楚即可，所以這句話是這樣的：

Life is not merely about living, but it is about living for a reason.

--> 精簡一次 Life is not merely about living, but about living for a reason.

--> 再精簡 Life is not merely about living, but living for a reason.

所以可以看成是省略 it is about， 剩下 living。 答案選 (B)
