I saw one scholarship application where the second page asked for Parent's income, number of dependents, any unusual circumstances that cause high expenses (like a family members illness or condition or physical/mental disability). Then, it asked the estimated tuition, books, and fees costs. Also, it asked how much the family was going to contribute toward school costs. Finally, it asked for the amount of difference in available family contribution and total cost of education as the "Amount Requested as Scholarship."
I realize most scholarships have a set maximum amount, but this gives you an idea of what they want. How much do you guys have coming in (income), how much is going out (living expenses), plus any extraordinary expenses (if there are any), what is the cost of education at your school(tuition, fees, and books), how much can your family contribute, how much is coming from other sources (student aid and other scholarships), and FINALLY how much of a Financial Need is still needed?
