Quite frankly, I dont think this sentence has anything to do with wanting to be somebody's guardian angel due to how it's structured, but oh well, what do I know? I am just a lazy panda who loves nothing more than sleeping...

Yes, it depends upon the context. This is just a part of sentence, it is hard to grasp the meaning of it, for example:
I think when you get older you think more about the Holy Spirit than you do your Guardian Angel.

It all depends on the context - it could be on both extremes.
