Hi Alex:
Since no GoPro Hero 3 users have bothered to answer, I figured I would at least try to help.
The Hero 3 doesn't have a standard 1/4"-20 mounting hole like some camera models, so it uses a black surround frame & hinged-mount disk that accepts a tripod screw on the bottom like this photo: http://www.atlantahobby.com/Store/pc/catalog/13416...
If what you lost is the black-handled hinge screw (called a Thumb Knob) like in the above picture, you can go to any good hardware store (Lowe's or Home Depot are two examples) that has a "custom hardware" section (usually color-coded drawers with individually priced nuts, bolts, screws, and oddball hardware parts). The cap-nut for the frame mount should still be on the hinge assembly, so you can use that to match the proper thread size. You'll need to pick a screw or bolt length similar to the original, or pick the next-longer size & use small washers or extra hex-nuts as spacers to allow full tightening.
Good hardware stores have knowledgeable staffers who can help you select the correct replacement. If you also lost the cap-nut, you don't necessarily have to use a cap-nut replacement (using a regular hex-nut will make the bolt-length less critical).
Some of the other GoPro mounting hardware & brackets use the same black-handled screws (Thumb Knobs) and cap-nuts, but if you don't have any of the other mounting accessories, you can also buy a "GoPro Grab Bag" for $12-$20 from any GoPro dealer and get a new attachment screw that way: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=...
And if you contact GoPro.com directly, you might be able to buy just the part you need.
hope this helps,
