Who would you consider as a band or artist as leaders of generation Y? Meaningful ones?

It may be that they haven't arrived into popularity yet to really define my generation.

This is generation Y http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Y

People who were born from early 1980s to early 2000s.

We don't have a "Beatles" yet.

    Nothing that game-changing.

The truth is that Generation Y, unlike the hippy-like Babyboomers of the 60's or Generation X, is more diverse. For example. In the 70's you had Rockers...and Disco'ers. (and some folk)

Now you have Rappers, Country, Metalheads, Folk, Rockers, Pop, Electronic or Dubstep, etc etc ...

Our tastes have diversivfied and our mentality has grown more...civic. (Some would say our generation Y is too close to their parents.)

We were not as rebellious as those teenagers in the 60's 70's and 80's. It's harder then to define us, we're more...openminded, but not as active. We're kind of blase'. Perhaps more observant?

Back to the original question, since tastes have largely diversified, we can't really have a single defining artist. I like almost all types of music, except screaming. But if I had to choose one song, to define our generation....hmm...I'd choose.....I don't really know.

Maybe "Feel Good Inc" By the Gorillaz. but as I pointed out, our generation has a diversity of tastes. Feel free to disagree.

Generation Y....I have no idea what that means. You have a letter to define your generation? Interesting.

Did you have any influence on the creation of this one....
