What is Steam (Games)?

My friends have been going on about how great steam is, and how they have the best game deals. I am not much of a PC gamer, and the only thing i know for certain is that it is available for PC.

Is it available for Xbox 360 or PlayStation?

How does buying work?

Is it only digital, or an option?

Is it good?

How do you get it onto your Xbox/Ps3 (if possible)

    1) Steam is a website, so you can't get it on a Console.

    2) You simply plug in your credit card / paypal info, (you need to make an account first,) and simply search for the game you are looking for on Steam and then buy it and download / install it.

    3) I don't quite understand this question. If you're wondering if you play it on the internet, then it depends on the game. For the most part, you only need an internet connection to download the games, however, if you want to play against other people, then you need to play online with a good internet connection. (It's similar to Consoles.)

    4) It's probably the best place to buy PC games. The prices are relatively cheap and there is a large variety of games. The only downside is you can't refund a game once you buy it.

    5) Not applicable, however, both the PS3 / Xbox 360 have their own stores in which you can buy / download games from.

Is it available for Xbox 360 or PlayStation?

No, you can link your steam account but that's it.

    How does buying work?

You use a credit card, then they either let you download the game or give you a code.

Is it only digital, or an option?

What? I think it's only digital.

    Is it good?

Yes, most PC gamers use this, great deals and alright customer service.

How do you get it onto your Xbox/Ps3 (if possible)

Not possible yet, but there are rumors about a steam console.

Steam is a Digital Online Store like Playstation Store.

You can buy stuff through Credit Card.

Yes, it's good. They offer discounts for no real reason.

    It's not available for 360/PS3.

You can download Steam by heading over to their website:

Steam is an PC only online platform, similar to XBL and PSN. It has features such as a huge store with thousands of titles, achievements, adding friends, groups, and many more. Practically all PC multiplayer games require an account to play. It's completely free to sign up, though, and has some amazing full free to play games, like Team Fortress 2.

Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute games and related media online, from small independent developers to larger software houses; in October 2012, Valve expanded the service to include non-gaming software. Steam provides the user with installation and automatic management of software across multiple computers, community features such as friends lists and groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat functionality. The software provides a freely available application programming interface, Steamworks, that developers can take advantage of to integrate many of Steam's functions within their software products, including copy protection, networking and matchmaking, in-game achievements and micro-transactions, and support for user-created content through Steam Workshop. Though initially developed for use on Microsoft Windows, the client has expanded to include a Mac OS X version and a port (currently in public beta) to Linux, and clients with limited functionality on the PlayStation 3 console and for both iOS and Android mobile devices. In addition to being a central hub for gaming software, Valve has created a version of Steam with altered functionality to be used in schools for educational software, including a modified version of Portal 2 for teaching science and critical thinking lessons.
