Which is the correct Canadian accent?
I was watching "How I Met Your Mother" last night. In the episode Barney, making fun of Robin being Canadian, said that he was going "oat" of his mind (as in "boat").
However, I thought the Canadian accent would be "oot" of his mind (as in "flute").
So would it be "oat" or "oot"? Which is the correct Canadian accent?
And if there are multiple Canadian accents, could someone please describe them?

It depends on where you are.
Most Canadians don't have that stereotypical accent with the "oot" and such. You may be able to find it somewhere in some Maritime provinces or somewhere else. People in the Toronto area speak like Northeastern Americans.Source(s): Canadian
