Why my facebook images are public?

Why my facebook images can be seen by anyone, through a link, that can became public? Why they don't hide that link?

Google can't and won't look for them, but there is a link that is public, if you know the link. So my private images can be publicly accessed if one of my friends gives you the link.

I have an image on fb with the "Only me" setting but now I send you the link and you can see it. What if one of your friends does the same... I think it's fair, you friend made it public. The only problem that bothers me is that there is a link there that can be accesed from outside, and I really think that they should no provide the link at all.

The akamaihd.net cloud servers stores my file here:

Here would be the link to the my facebook image (you won't be able to access it through facebook because of the "Only me" option, but you could through the one before, nice):

it's like that for everyone haha i think you dragged your facebook picture into a new tab right haha. even if it's on private.. anyone can see it tho if you send them that link.. on your timeline you can check by going to view as public or a friend and they won't be able to click on your profile picture as it is on private..

for example: my profile pictures are also on private but it i dragged the private profile picture onto a new tab, the link can be accessed by anyone if i send them it but no one can drag or rather click on your profile picture, so no worries.. if you dragged your picture into a new tab, the link would be like this: http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/551798_...

    and if private : http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=38834536787...

You could go to check the privacy settings of your images and set limitation on visiting them. Hope it works.

Quite honestly if you don't want your pictures seen why post them to a public forum? You know it is a public forum when you sign up.
