Blueboods series by Melissa de la Cruz
- This is actually a vampire series but...there's this awesome twist because the vampires have alternates - angels. I seriously didn't want to read this series for the same reason, but it was different from all those usual vampire stuff. The plot is more interesting and I fell in love. The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
- Faeries and stuff. There are 3 main leads: Maegan chase - the girl who founds out that she's the daughter of king oberon who's from the summer court. Prince Ash - Prince from the winter court. Puck - the guy from midsummer's night dream. (http://www.theironfey.com/)
The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson

Anna and the French Kiss / Lola and the boy next door by Stephani Perkins

George R R Martin. Not just his Throne of Swords books, but his other writing too.
Peter Straub: Ghost Story
H. P. Lovecraft
You could try some classics, The Three Musketeers is a great adventure. The Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged) is still an awesome book. (There is a time when the Parisians think that The Count is a vampire and that is a HOOT!)
