Can I purchase Humulin R OTC?

So I was wondering if I am able to purchase Humulin R over the counter. I am a diabetic without health insurance now, so help would be gladly appreciated. I know humulog can only be purchased with prescription, but what about Humulin R? I live in Indiana by the way.

Yes. In the United States, Regular and NPH are OTC, and all other insulins are prescription only. It's dumb (since Regular is not more or less dangerous than Humalog), but that's how it is.

P.S. The cheapest way to buy insulin is Walmart's Humulin R, Humulin N, or Humulin 70/30.

If you are seeing a doctor who is cool with it though, you may be able to get insulins for free through patient assistance programs of Novo Nordisk or Eli Lilly. You fill in the forms, the doctor signs off, and they send medical supplies for you to your doctor.
