How to be more awake and aware?

So I was on tumblr, and I read this post that said "So a man ran 7 marathons, in 7 continents, in 7 days, while I fell asleep during a haircut..." and it hit me... I DO THAT. I FALL ASLEEP WAY TOO MUCH. So my day goes like this, wake up around 7 am, go to school, go home at 2, take a nap around 5 - 6, wake up at 8 and do homework til 10. But I hate this, because I'm not aware and awake as I used to. Do you guys have any tips on how to be more awake / aware during the day time so that I don't have to take naps and miss out during the day. And I don't really recommend coffee because I'm not really into that. Anything helps, thanks!
