    Hi Joe,

My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. You may try Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to have a check.

Meanwhile, please also refer to the following document:

    Hope this helps.

Apparently your dell dimension 2400 is too old of a computer. It wasn't meant to run Windows 7. It runs better on Windows XP. I just looked at the dell website for your computer dell dimension 2400. They only have drivers for Windows XP and not Windows 7. Sorry.

    Do the following:

Download the XP driver from Dell on the page below.

    http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Produ...

Once downloaded "right click" the file and choose properties then click the compatibility tab and then choose the following options.

Run in compatibility XP professional and click on the run as administrator box below.

    Then:

Double click the downloaded file and install your video drivers as normal.

    If the installer still fails:

    Download 7zip and install

    http://www.7-zip.org/

right click the file you downloaded from dell

you'll now see a 7zip option choose extract option

    extract to folder of choice.

open device manager by typing device manager in the search bar

    look under display adapters

right click the unknown device and choose update driver

choose the manual option "browse my computer"

navigate to the folder where you extracted the setup program and proceed.

Source(s): I do this every day.

Next time make sure the drivers are available first before any "upgrade" which that definitely wasn't on an old machine like that.
