does your degree have an effect on your job as a naval officer?

i know you get a wish list and th thate job you get is ultimatly based on the needs of the navy but do they also take your degree into consideration ?

    Well, you aren't going to be a Doctor or Lawyer with an Engineering Degree... So yes, but not always. SWO and Aviation or Line Officer aren't as particular as Staff, Supply and Engineering.

    yes, your degree is taken into consideration

    IE: they will not assign someone to be a finace officer, unless they have a business, finance or accounting degree

    you will not be a sub officer without a technical degree and a masters in nuclear engineering

    but jobs like surface warfare officer, degree really doesn't matter

    I served on subs. I only saw officers who had a B.S. in either: Engineering, Math, or Physics. Or Accountants for the Chops.

    No. There are pilots out there with engineering degrees and history degrees alike. For submarines, yes, they generally prefer technical degrees, but that's not to say you cannot get in with a history degree.
