My son has a MIP and DUI?

My son was charged with an MIP back in August, now got a DUI in December he just turn 21, what might happen next as far as fines, community service or jail time according to Michigan laws?

    Well, probably no jail time, but this is a second DUI ... and a third alcohol related offense! That fact will not slip by the judge.

    Pretty steep fines, with fees, surcharges and cost of the court it could easily top on thousand dollars. Mandatory drug and alcohol counseling (he will probably pay for that), loss of driving privileges, and probation are all very possible.

    He should get a lawyer, one that specializes in DWI/DUI offenses. Check the yellow pages, sometimes the lawyers run adds on TV or radio ... if all else fails, do a search on the internet. Go to your favorite search engine and search for DWI lawyers in [your city], MI, it's a popular specialty ... you should have a lot of choices.
