Nope. It's all recycled rubbish. Read this link:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20101120132811/http://b...

Back in 2000, it was going to be the 'ultimate catastrophe'. Just another one of the many predicted catastrophes which curiously failed to materialise.

Have a read through the claims in the link:

The number of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and freakish climate changes are increasing.

A sudden, momentous change in the Earth's surface occurred in the past.

A massive solar storm will crash into Earth's magnetic field.

    Incredible wealth of factual evidence.

Exciting current research further confirming Noone's hypotheses.

Does this sound familiar? It's all been churned out with regard to 2012 as well, hasn't it? And it's just as much a load of cobblers now as it was then. You see how doomsday claims are environmentally friendly because they can be endlessly recycled. This particular claim was based on secret encoded messages left by the ancient Egyptians which only the author managed to discover and translate and which all other archaeologists strangely seemed to have missed. Replace ancient Egyptians with ancient Maya and your recycled package is complete and ready to go.

There's no reason to let any of this doomsday nonsense bother you. Try to treat all this tomfoolery as a bit of light comic relief.

    Listen,

The Mayan Style of Time Keeping, (the making of calendars), is Based Heavily on Cycles. That means that just as Winter gives Rise to Spring, the Mayan Calendars Cycle Back to the Beginning. They Based their Counts on the Movement of the Stars in the Night Sky. Actually the Calendar that the 2012 Hype is on about actually has already Ended and Restarted it's Count Numerous Times since it was first Created.

Also, the man who started all of the 2012 theories, his name being Jose Arguelles, never mentioned that his theory was that the world would end. He, being of a very New Age State of Mind, claimed that the World would Transform and Transcend in Energy and Pretty Much Have a Paradigm Shift in our Consciousness and Perceptions of Reality. I'm not saying this guy was right, either.

The people who have jumped on the 2012 bandwagon are Crackpots and Charlatans. The Fear Mongering and the Media Outlet are merely for Attention and Money. Even the Modern Day Mayans have been Upset at how many are Capitalizing, (Making Profits), on Their Ancient Culture.

Several Recent Discoveries have been Rather Recently found shedding light on the truth that the Mayan Calendar Continues on After December 21st, 2012. All of the Bogus Theories one can find on the internet are completely bunk. You will find no merit to the crazy ideas floating around.

That said, you may relax and no longer worry. The biggest concept to understand is that the Mayan Calendar is Cyclical like the Seasons are. The End of the World Claims are Strawmen, (no real substance to them). And Everyone is basically just repeating a lie out of sheer ignorance and laziness. Nobody is willing these days to take the time to dig into the back story, but when you do you'll see that there is nothing to this 2012 "Urban Legend".

No one knows. The world itself won't end, but floods may wipe out civilization. It may destroy the human race, it may not. There has been evidence to back up both sides of the argument. First off, there has been a dramatic change in weather, and floods have already come over most of England. This could suggest something bigger to come. On the other hand, scientists have apparently said that this meteor that is slowly getting closer to earths orbit actually hasn't moved at all in over 10 million years. Either way, I'd say you should be prepared. There is chance that it could happen.

No the world is not going to end. Their calendar just stopped on December 21st. Just like my old Xbox 360 only went to the year 2025. Does that mean it will just die after that? No, that's just when they decided to set it to. Also, when the Mayans made the calendar they didn't have leap years so if their predictions were right we would've died already because of the extra days we have added. Don't worry it's not ending!

Nope. It is just a theory like every other end of the world prophecies. It is used to get rich off the dumb people and take off saying sorry that it was a wrong theory and keeping the money.

No it's not true they are just trying to scare people. They said the world would end in 2000 but it didn't and then they said it would end in 2010 but it didn't so don't believe that crap.

"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matthew 24:36) This means that although people try to guess when the end will come, none of us can know for sure when it will come.

However, the Bible does give us signs to let us know when it is near. Consider these two passages:

Matthew 24:3-14: "While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: "Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?" And in answer Jesus said to them: "Look out that nobody misleads you; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. Youare going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that youare not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet. "For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. "Then people will deliveryou up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

2 Timothy 3:1-5: "But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

These things along with other Bible prophecies prove that we are deep in the last days of this old system, but there will be survivors who will be able to live forever on the perfect paradise earth that we were intended to live on. (Psalms 37:9-11, 29) Survival depends on our taking in knowledge of God and his Son, Jesus Christ as stated at John 17:3 This means we must study the Bible, and apply what we learn. To find out what your Bible teaches, see the following free e-book: http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/bible-teac...

Also, there are people who will say that these things have always been and things are not getting worse, but even scientists and other professionals are saying that the number of natural disasters have greatly increased in the 20th and 21st centuries when compared with other centuries. The same is true with the number of wars going on in the world. In fact, more people have died from WWI and WWII than from all the wars from 1 CE to 1900 CE. And just look at the crime being committed. Sure, man has killed man for millenia, but the sadistic manner in which one is killed or tortured is commonplace nowadays. There is definitely a tension in the air that makes a person feel that the end is near. If you are a discerning person, you will listen to the Bible's warnings before it is too late.
