Velocity of a pendulum?

I know you can use energy conservation to find the max velocity of a pendulum, however im trying to run an experiment using logger pro for video analysis and it separates the velocity into x and y components. Is there any way to calculate what the x and y components should be? or can i somehow use logger pro to just give a average velocity?

    Speed = SQR{ [ Vx]^2 + [ Vy]^2} = tangential velocity

    You could break Ag and Fg into rho and theta, with the center of the polar coordinates being the pendulum pivot, but that would get triple coyote ugly when you tried to integrate it
