Good quality survival knife?
I am looking for a good survival knife for a Christmas present for my boyfriend. Hes building a survival pack and Id like to get a him a really good survival knife or knife set that will last and is well made. What are the most popular survival knives? I am so lost I know nothing about them so any help or direction would be great thank you!
Would you recommend Gerber? Was looking at the Gerber 31-000751 Bear Grylls Survival Series Ultimate Knife, Serrated Edge. Don't know if that is any good?

Since a knife is one of the most important parts of a survival pack I'm sure he would appreciate a good one, however is going to be expensive. Essee knife are very quality and recognized as some of the best survival knives and cost between $100-$150. Busse knives are also some very nice knive but will start to cost more. And yes the popular Ka-Bar and Sog knives are also nice, however many are not quite as well suited for survival purposes as Essee and Busse knives. Hope this helps and you have an awesome idea for a present, I'm sure he will like it.Source(s): Personal experience

Any knife made by Cold Steel or Ka-Bar is very high quality, you can't go wrong with either brand. Check chkadels.com, they stock lots of survival items, including survival knives, its usually my first choice when there's something I need.
