some boat questions...?

first of all, i know you don't "drive" a boat. i just don't know the correct terminology so i'm saying drive.

1. what do you call the guy who drives a boat?

2. say the boat you're on has a little room where the guy from 1. drives the boat. what's the room where he drives the boat called? my first instinct says "cockpit" but i'm like 99% sure that that's for planes not boats...

and yeah. i think thats it...

thanks!

The guy or girl who drives the boat is a helmsman or pilot.

The little room can be called the bridge, or the pilot house, and the area he works from is the helm station.
