Friend is a bad writer how do I tell him?

He just doesn't make sense most of the time and like it sounds pretintious the way he writes I think he tries to sound smart this is the poem:

→ Nov 2012

so long as the crescent hides behind her walls

and the dreary sets of wandering eyes

falls flat and dead to everyone

you are nothing but grace

and perfection, tinged by shame

and lust for life

how do I tell he's not that good at writing

Your friend has a unique way of expressing himself. I liked it actually. Was it Ralph Waldo Emerson who said, "A man marches to the beat of his own drum, however measured or far away,"? Whose to say your friend is wrong...if people can read his work and relate?

I don't think it's *pretentious* maybe he's just found a way to express himself, and it's out of your league.

Aren't friends supposed to be happy for each other???

That's actually pretty good. You should remember that everyone has their own preferences. What seems bad to you may seem brilliant to others.

Don't tell him. Let someone else do the criticism.
