Any comments on what Prava.ru claims that Obama 're-elected by illiterate society'?

The entire election season centered around entitlements. The senatorial election in Pennsylvania pitted Tom Smith against the incumbent Bob Casey, Jr. The ONLY topic they addressed is how they promise not to cut medicare and how the other guy will slash benefits for the elderly.
No REAL issues, just entitlements. Pandering to the demographic who makes sure they get theirs.
It's pathetic.

While there are an estimated 20% of adults (i.e. voters) in the US who are "functionally illiterate", a) several other democracies have higher percentages, and b) 80% are NOT illiterate. Therefore, while some in the US are illiterate (at least in one sense) it isn't true that the US is an "illiterate society". On the other hand arguably many are "politically illiterate" -- i.e. they don't really understand the issues or choose to vote based on ideology rather than logic -- and therefore vote in ways that make little sense.
But no matter how one views the US electorate they are not really different from voters in other democratic systems. In other words Prava.ru is wrong.
