Will Barack Obama allow Japan to acquire nuclear weapons?

When Japan surrendered at the end of WWII, a feature of the treaty was that the Japanese did not need to provide for national defense, the United States would do it for them. In other words, it was no longer necessary for them to have the Armed Services. That includes nuclear protection.

Japan does not even allow nuclear equipped Navy ships to use their port facilities. The only hitch in this is North Korea, which for some reason has chosen to threaten Japan with nuclear missiles. Should that happen, the United States would be obligated to retaliate in kind on Japan's behalf. i expect we would get permission from China first, or perhaps China and USA would act jointly.

There are a bunch of loopholes in the treaty that allows Japan to have nuclear weapon (also the reason why the Japanese Defense Army exist)
However, the people would be completely against it and some government officials have sworn against the use of nuclear weapon.
The people do not want it.
Japan, however, is capable of creating them.

Japan and Germany are nuclear-capable high-tech nations. If the government of either country decided they needed nukes it would only take them a few months to build a small arsenal.
However, since both countries have decided they don't want nuclear weapons, it is not an issue.

There is no indication that Japan has any interest in building nuclear weapons. so the question is pointless.
