Will socialism finally work when Robots exist that can do all the work?

Robots won't care if you take all their labor. Unless they become aware and then....

Yes, when everybody is unemployed and on relief, then the Tea Party nuts will be demanding socialism.

I think about this kind of thing a lot. Humans are too corrupt to make socialism work. But in an ideal world where everyone is hard working, moral, and responsible then socialism is superior to capitalism. But we don't live in an ideal world and in the corrupt world we live in capitalism works better in practice than socialism does. But if we have machines running a socialistic society (without human intervention meddling in what the machines say will be done) then we could have a society that is the fairest and most equitable in human history. The only question is, is such a society possible before humans are sentient (or effectively sentient according to the Turing test)? And once machines are effectively sentient then will they order society to be near perfect for us or will they view us as a self destructive plague that needs to be wiped out?

I kinda think they'll wipe us out. But if they don't, if they work to make our lives as good as they can be then it will be as near to a paradise as humanity has ever seen on this planet in all of human history.

    Best wishes :)

P.S. Read up on synaptic CPUs if you want to know more about this subject. They've already made two prototype CPUs that work the way the human brain does, with synapses (it's in its infancy though, it's being funded by DARPA (who also funded the creation of what became the internet) ). It isn't anywhere near human brain processing power yet though but eventually (assuming Moore's Law continues) it will be and machines will be as intelligent as humans (though without errors such as humans have).

Socialism is not defined in terms of work, it is when politicians steal the tools of production from the rightful owners. Politicians are lousy managers, so there is no way the system can ever work well. In Russia they had to let every family have an acre of ground for a garden because the state-run farms just couldn't feed them. Those one acre gardens were 3% of the acreage and they produced 99% of all the vegetables the people ate.
