Despite the grim atmosphere in the airline industry, business- and first-class passengers remain a lushly profitable segment.
(A)Although the prospect of the airline industry is not rosy, the airline companies can still make profits from business- and first-class passengers.
(B)The airline industry is attempting to attract more business- and first-class passengers; however, the promotions do not progress as well as expected.
(C)The grim atmosphere in business- and first-class cabins has great impacts on the airline industry.
(D)Business- and first-class passengers cannot bring the airline companies enough profits to support the industry.

master 26535! I agree with your saying. If airline can survive on business and first class passenger. They would not be in so much trouble lately.

I am pretty familiar with the airline industry and realy have to disagree with the rationales in this question.
1. Airlines make profit from each and every "revenue pax" - non-revenue pax are those free fliers on mileages or employee benefits.
2. where airlines loose $ is the empty seat.

3. airlines makes less from discounted business class than full fare economy;
4. few airlines fly first and business classes only flight any more.
5. airlines loose $ with 50% empty economy even with full first/business classes. Answer A seems to suggest otherwise.

Although A is not sound nor complete, it is still the best amongst all available choices.
