Can you baking figure ice skates to help mold them to your size (stretch them)?

Can you bake Figure ice skates to help stretch them? I have seen this done with hockey skates and don't know why you can't do it with figure skates.

First, they're figure skates. Not figure ice skates.

Secondly, ONLY get them done at a pro shop and ONLY if they are a type that can be heat-molded.

Thirdly, heat-molding will NOT help if the skates are the wrong size.

There's no hard and fast rule. Generally skates are a little smaller than your shoe size, but the real test is to be fitted. Between brands you can't depend on the sizes running the same. There's really no substitute for trying them on. Depending on how small your skates are, maybe you could just have them punched out a little? The guy at our rink can stretch them about 1/2 a size.

  • Depends if the model of skates you have is heat moldable or not. If they are then yes they can be molded to your feet, but it won't stretch them out. There's a difference. A special convection oven is used which most proshops should have. It is possible to do it with a regular oven at home, but only if you're extremely desperate and are willing to risk ruining your skates or setting something on fire.
