Remember that solving for "q" Hey is the same thing as solving for x. First get the single numbers on one side then tleave the combined number together. So we would have to move 32 to the other side with the - 8, and in order to do that we have to change the sign because if you want to go cross the border and love in Mexico you have to learn English. Think of it like that. So now we have -7q=-8-32,combine the negatives, pretend as if money you owe 8dollars and you spent 32 you now owe 49,now we have - 7q=-40,now we just divide both sides by - 7 and since the 40 and 7 are both negative that will turn into a positive which will equal q=5.7...... Hmmm I think you wrote down the wrong problem

So you have

32 - 7q = -8

You then subtract over the 32 giving you

-7q = -40

Divide by the -7 to get q alone

Q=5.71

Hope that helps

32 - 7q = -8

-7q = -8 - 32 (subtracting 32 on both the sides of the equation)

q = (-8 -32)/-7 ( dividing by -7 on both the sides)

q = -40/-7

q= 40/7 ( since negative signs in the numerator and denominator get cancelled)

subtract 32 from both sides

-7q = - 8 - 32

add like terms

- 7q = - 40

divide by -7

q = - 40/-7 = 5 5/7
