They claimed that Japan dominated Korean people during the war.

However, these stories have no conclusive evidence. Are their criticisms true? If they want to get right information about the war history between Japan and Korea, they can get many facts from internet or books these days. Nevertheless, they have been maintaining and attacking Japan’s old acts in Korea since the World War II finished. This is very strange.

n fact their stories are wrong for these reasons. I want to give you the three facts about history between Korea and Japan.

First of all I would like to explain about the Japan-Korea Annexation. The Iljinhoe (一進会) was a nation-wide pro-Japan organization in Korea. The party thought that Korea could not develop capitalism on its own, and demanded a merger with the Japanese Empire.

Meanwhile, Japan needed to defend itself from Western countries such as Soviet, so the newly modernized Meiji government of Japan turned to Korea because various Western countries actively competed for influence, trade, goods, and territory in East Asia in the late 19th and early 20th century. On 22 August 1910, Japan effectively annexed Korea with the Japan-Korea Annexation Treaty signed by Lee Wan-Yong, Prime Minister of Korea. However, Korean people said Japan occupied Korea forcedly.

But in actuality, Korea asked Japan for help.

Secondly, Korea has claimed that they suffered by old Japanese government, but Japan established the infrastructure actually. In fact Korea was a very poor country in the early of the 19th century; so many foreigners said Korea was entirely unsanitary. The Japanese government created transportation infrastructure and official buildings such as schools, hospitals and post offices, and so on. Koreans extended their lives span in deed.

lives span 24 years old → 45 years old

    population 13 million → 25 million

    literacy rate 10% → 65%

However, Koreans have not learned the fact in schools under the political reasons.

Not only this, S.Korea received Japan’s oversea assets (5.3 billion-dollar) which were in S.Korea and 8 hundred million dollars from Japan in 1965. these money in those days was by no means a small amount. (Incidentally, Korean national budget in those days is 3.5hundred million dollars.)

However, Koreans have not learned the fact too.

I know some Korean hate Japan for historical and political reasons but not all Korean.

Also some Japanese hate Korean for same reasons as Korean but not all Japanese.

Nowadays, some japanese like K-pop ,Korean actor and Korean drama. Also,I know some Korean like J-pop and Japanese fashion.

Sometimes, people judge things by just a part but it's wrong.

Well Japan did colonize Korea from 1910-1945 and many Korean women were used as "comfort women", meaning they were prostitutes for the Japanese Army and the Japanese government is only apologizing now to the Korean women used for what happened during World War II and most of the comfort women are very old now and some may not even get to hear the apologies. Also during World War II The Japanese tortured and killed many Korean men, women, children, as well as several Chinese, Indonesian, and Filipino people. The Japanese were very ruthless during World War II and their actions resulted in over 20 million deaths of Asian people not only in Korea, but in all the countries I mentioned above. Although it's not just Korea, many other other Asian countries still hate Japan for what they did during World War II and I don't think they Japanese have ever officially apologized for what they did. Also Koreans who live in Japan are called "Zainichi" which means "foreigner" in Japanese. Even though Zainichi Koreans are permanent residents of Japan and most likely have Japanese names and what not, because they aren't ethnically Japanese, they face a lot of discrimination. That could also be a reason why Koreans don't like Japan very much. But I think things are slowly getting resolved between them. One of my best friends went to Tokyo recently for a soccer tournament and she says K-pop is advertised everywhere in Japan and she also said there were girls in Japan who were more excited for an upcoming Girls Generation concert than for an AKB48 concert. I think that the older generations of Koreans hold more of a grudge against the Japanese for what happened during WWII than the younger generations do. From what I understand younger Koreans tend to like Japan more and vice versa.

I am Korean and have been living in Japan for about 12 years now. (I am 13) And both my grandparents have lived when Japan governed Korea. My grandmother lives in Japan with my mom and I and she loves Japan. Especially about the clear air, and the clean roads.

oh please the koreans hate for japan dont even come close to the hate japanese give to Korean people. The korean people living in japan that was brought over as slaves and chose to stay face constand discrimination. And hate crimes on a daily basis. There has been numerous occasion where there has been protest saying death to all koreans in japan.

  • The Korean government certainly encourages the hate of Japan. I have personally seen a world history textbook used by junior high school students in Korea that has on its cover a photo of a relief showing a Japanese soldier bayoneting a pregnant Korean woman. You can imagine what the kids thing before they even open their textbooks.

Japan deserves much of the hatred it attracts. Whilst young Japanese people are friendly open and kind, the middle aged males in politics and powerful positions are some of the most stubborn and arrogant in the world. They are extremely nationalistic and although Japan hasn`t attacked anyone since WW2 they are basically the same people they were when they were attacking all their neighbors including Russia, Korea, and China in the first half of the 20th century.

Korean`s know that the Japanese attacked Korea and the atrocities committed by Japan in pretty much every military engagement they have been in don`t help the situation. Most of all, I think the Koreans, like me, don`t believe that the Japanese have really changed in the last 100 years.
