Recommendations for blues artists?
I have only recently started listening to blues music, and I enjoy music from around the 1930-1940's. The artist that I really like is robert johnson, if i could get some recommendations on similiar artists, I also like muddy waters, art tatum etc.

A few suggestions - avoiding some of the earliest one which you might find too scratchy
Blind Willie McTell
Big Boy Crudup
Big Joe Williams
Big Bill Broonzy
Blind Boy Fuller
I guess some more will soon be added by others, I have only mentioned guitar-players with a significant number of recordings, many more can be discovered in compilations like Yazoo's or JSP's. Youtube is a convenient way of first hearing them and, er... some blogs provide links to not-so-legal downloads of old LP's
I suppose it is best to ask a more specific question about jazz in the relevant section, with more example; Tatum was such an original performer that he does not suggest me any obvious recommendation (maybe Errol Garner or Teddy Wilson, if you are after pianists... I would also warmly recommend Fats Waller, but it is a completely different style - as well as Bud Powell, whose best recordings were cut much later)
Edit: If Glen or others start mentioning post-war recorded blues singers like Guitar Gabriel or McDowell, I have to add Mance Lipscomb, my all-time favo(u)rite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmPgKsklczM
(Purists might be surprised to hear him sing Shine On, Harvest Moon among other songs, but the guy who composed Roll and Tumble Blues, Hambone Willie Newbern, also recorded such non-blues numbers as Way Down In Arkansas in... 1929).
