does anyone know the name of this children's story/film?! please help me! :(?

Question

when i was really little i used to listen to a tape recording of a story about a little girl who had a polar bear come into her room at night and she had to look after him and keep him hidden from her parents then in the end he had to leave her and fly back to the north pole or wherever he came from. and she started crying and her dad came in to comfort her.

i think there was a cartoon film made about it called 'Bear' but im not sure

does anyone know it? thank you x
