You're better off with C++. Once you learn C++, you'll understand Java a lot better (Java is a managed language, C++ is not, so you'll understand more of what goes on under the hood and why Java has more overhead in performance), and you'll know 90% of C (and be frustrated with its lack of templates, classes, function overloading, polymorphism, default arguments, references, strongly-typed enums, clean design patterns, etc.).
