Is getting a GED easier than getting a high school degree?

I'm wondering because if people drop out of high-school with the intentions of getting a GED it must be easier to get in a way? I'm just assuming. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Any feedback helps.

I have never tried to get a GED, but I am assuming it's harder. You have to learn a lot of information at once, where as when you are getting a high school diploma you learn a bit each year and tend to forget things. I have forgotten so much stuff from my freshman and sophomore years. If I had to take a GED to graduate I'm not sure I'd pass.
