Is too much diversity a bad thing for a country?

It seemed like when the U.S. was mostly white, with just a few minorities in any given white neighborhood, the country was better. The crime was low, economy better and people weren't so divided.

So is too much diversity a bad thing? Differences separate people, not bring them together.

Diversity should be better because people can combine different experiences, knowledge and skills to do more things in better ways. But it won't work that way until people give up their prejudices. These things come about because of lack of diversity, and therefore hinders progress. Think about it, as children are born into diverse societies, they become more accepting of the different people growing up with them, because there is no fear, just familiarity. Crime is a result of human nature, so is division, and the poor economy is a result of circumstance and poor choices. These are not directly caused by race, religion or any other kind of diversity.

People will always separate themselves with people that don't look similar to them; put it this way you're a newcomer to the us you're white do you move into a white neighborhood or a black neighborhood? you'd feel more comfortable in a white one, you and them are similar easier to make friends
