Augusto Pinochet and scapegoating?
Who did he blame? What was the direction of popular discontent (scapegoating)?
Thanks in advance

Salvador Allende was the democratically elected president of Chile but he happened to be a socialist. The U.S didn't like this so their C.I.A. organized a coup and put Pinochet in power. It's a bit ironic really as the U.S. invades all over the world with the aim of bringing democracy, but the U.S. only likes democracy if they vote the right way. Anyway, Pinochet set about ruling his dictatorship with an iron fist. He tortured and murdered thousands of people and it was all down to the U.S. objecting to a democratically elected president.
