How do i read these guitar chords?

I want to learn how to play a song, and looking for chords on the internet,but I don't understand them they are different than the ones I got in my mariachi class.

They go like this

E : 0-1-2-0-0-0-3- - - -3

A : 1-2-0-0-0 ----------

Etc.

The ones I got where like drawings of the frets and stuff. Help?

    To add to the previous comment, they are fingering positions indicating which string and fret to play the notes. Just be aware that many on-line tabs have mistakes in them. Sometimes you'll be trying to learn a song and something just doesn't sound right...well, that's when you know it's wrong.

    What you are looking at is called tablature, which is very easy to read.

    What you will have are six lines.

    e:-----------

    B:----------

    G:----------

    D:----------

    A:----------

    E:----------

    These are your strings, from low E at the bottom, to the high E at the top.

    Then you will see numbers on these lines, such as;

    e:--------------

    B:-------------

    G:-------------

    D:----------3--

    A:------2------

    E:-1-----------

    These represent several things, when to strum, and what fret you hold when you do strum.

    The spacing between the numbers is how much time you would wait to strum, in example

    E-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 would be strumming really fast on the first fret.

    E:--1----1------1--------------1--- is just gradually having a longer wait time between strumming.
