I abhor the very idea of "tolerance". If I have "tolerance" toward you, it implies that I "tolerate" you. And that implies and odious, difficult, unpleasant task. It means "I put up with you even though you disgust me".
This is NOT what Christ taught.
Christ taught us to LOVE our neighbor. LOVE is different than tolerance. It is as far superior to tolerance as health is to sickness and as joy is to misery. LOVE does not say, "You disgust me but I will put up with you". Love says, "You may be wrong about everything, and you may hate me, but I treasure you as one who was created in the Image of God and for Whom Christ My Savior died. You may curse me, but I will bless you."
Tolerance is a as cubic zirconium and iron pyrite. Love is gold and precious stones. Tolerance is burlap. Love is silk. Tolerance is a lie. Love is the truth.
Please, under no circumstance do I want you to have "tolerance" toward me. And I will not denigrate you by having "tolerance" for you.
Give me genuine love or genuine hate. I'd prefer love. But if you can't manage it, I'd prefer hate over tolerance.
For my part, I will always give love, not the cheap dross of "tolerance".
