Will there ever be another republican in the white house?
Or are there just more voters that depend on democratic supported programs.
Why in the world would Romney pick a running mate that is the author of a plan to eliminate social security, medicare and foodstamps.

Republicans want an America that has a strong military for self defense. They want a postals service. They do not believe in paying taxes. They do not want a centralized government.
They want the states to take care of all the governmental needs.
Why do they want this kind of America?
So that they can create businesses without interference from a government that will demand they pay fair wages, etc. No controls. They can do whatever they please as employers.
The bottom line is to make as much money as possible with as few expenses as possible with as little interference from the govt as possible. This way they can become land barons without anyone telling them what to do.
If you get medical care, you pay for it. If you want a retirement, you save for it. Nobody takes care of anyone else.
They figure there will always be poor people to work their factories and businesses.
Now. To answer your question about Medicare. Nixon wanted to eliminate Medicare. He hated it!!! He wanted HMO's to take the place of Medicare. This way big business insurance companies could make money from there being worse medical care. Worse medical care cost less than the good medical care they had been paying for prior to HMO's.
Here is a tape with that crook Nixon admitting he has no problem with worse health care to increase profits. He says it on the tape!
Andrew and Rob... Unfortunately for you this country is not made up people who are content to let the less fortunate die in the streets from lack of care. This is not an autocracy with the Republican party leading the way. We vote on laws and everyone gets a chance to have their say.
And right now the Republicans have burned this country so badly with the likes of GWB that people are not in the mood for more Republican greed. Like that video of Nixon. He says people should have lower quality health care to increase corporate profits. That is why the Republican party looks so terrible. Bottom line is they don't care. Exactly like Romney said.

I say if Romney can't beat Obama now, with the current state of our nation, then no, there won't be another Republican in the White House. I think the party will go into a complete overhaul and a new Conservative party will emerge. Just like with the Whigs becoming the Republicans. Or the Federalists turning into the Whigs.

A moderate Republican like Ronald Reagan got a lot of the independent vote but also democrats. No Reagan democrat is going to vote for someone on the lunatic right fringe. Right now the Republican party has no resemblance to that era, so it will be a long time yet.

No. But not perhaps for the reasons you might think. At heart, I'm still a Goldwater Republican Conservative.
But I no longer register or vote Republican. And all the old-line Republicans are pretty much in the same boat. The self-centered cretins who have hijacked the party consistently pick candidates like themselves, people that can't stand close scrutiny. Without real Republicans running, one will not be elected.

Maybe, if the Republican party does some serious reassessment and reform of its own policies. The extremists have taken over, or at least proved too much for the more moderate Republicans to contend with. Where they went wrong was in giving in to the Tea Party. If anyone can save the GOP, it will be the Libertarian wing.

Because apparently these are the programs that the "47 percent" suck on the teet of the government for.
You do realize the 47 percent pay all state tax and payroll tax which in many cases is a larger percent than mitt romney and the self appointed "elite" pay?
Also, the states with the highest percent of those who pay no federal income tax consistently vote republican and the states with the lowest percent of those who pay no federal income tax consistently vote democrat.

I hope not. Until they make some serious changes to the republican brand they really have nothing to offer.
