    5(k-8) = -1 (7+k)

    5k - 40 = -7 - k

    5k+k= -7 + 40

    6k = 33

    k= 33/6

    1st of stop using the word over, use "/" instead

    Anyways

    (k-8)/(7+k) = -1/5

    Multiply both sides by 5 and (7+k)

    5(k-8) = -(7+k)

    5*k - 5*8 = -7 - k

    5k - 40 = -7 - k

    Add k both sides

    5k+k - 40 = -7

    6k - 40 = -7

    Add 40 both sides

    6k = -7+40

    6k = 33

    divide by 6 both sides

    k = 33/6
