# i need help with dividing imaginary numbers!!!!!!!!!!?

I've just came into 6th form and only had a taster of further maths in which we did imaginary numbers and I can't really remember anything about them, I went to take it but my school took the option away because of the lack of people doing it, but anyway i'm going to assume it's like algebra in this case:

I think you multiply both 9i and (4-8i) by the conjugate (4+8i), not sure though.

9i / (4 - 8i)

9i(4 + 8i) / [(4 - 8i)(4 + 8i)]

(36i + 72i^2) / (16 - 64i^2)

(36i + 72 * -1) / (16 - 64 * -1)

(-72 + 36i) / 80

-72/80 + 36i/80

-9/10 + 9i/20
