What is the best online brokerage firm for long-term investors?
- user friendly web/platform navigation and usability
- independent 3rd party investment research
- reasonable transaction costs
- many free services
- good customer service
Thanks for the advice on the research, but I'm more than capable of doing that on my own. I have already reviewed Kiplingers, Barrons, Brokerage-Review, as well as many others. I'm looking for personal experiences with brokerage firms and how they measure up against each other. I apologize for not clarifying that before.

I use Merrill Edge. Free trades is the main reason, that adds up.

Google: Kiplinger review of best discount brokerage companies.
You will see companies such as:
Fidelity, Schwab, TD Ameritrade, TRowe Price, Vanguard, ING.
Only you can make the choice by doing research.
Usually the lowest commission will get you the worst service.
Note: Some brokerages require $5,000 to open an account.

the actual 3 may be; TD Ameritrade Charles Schwab constancy Investments Merrill part is an attempt of an finished service broking service to furnish a decreased service. they do no longer grant for free, facilities they could charge their extreme paying customers. This service is below mediocre inclusive of their platform. be careful of recommendations by strangers whose skills and motives can under no circumstances be many times happening (mutually with mine). Do your human being analyze. Make your human being judgements.
