How many people has Capitalism killed ?

In response to the often abusive question of How many people has Communism killed I thought it was only fair to ask How many people has Capitalism killed ?

Of course it is argued some times that a political system doesn't kill anyone it's people who kill people and of course as not many realize what true Communism is and most believe the lies told to them about what Communism is by the Capitalist media then it is argued, quite correctly, I think that Communism hasn't killed anyone.

However it could be argued that Capiitalism hasn't killed anyone either as it is a system and it's the people within it that kill each other. However Capitalism is a system that is inherently based on competition and on encouraging selfish behaviour so therefore the system itself because it is based on selfishness actually does increase the division between rich and poor and does bring about many injustices which of course lead to earlier deaths. So Capitalism actually odes mean that more people are killed.Let's look at a few of the ways Capitalism kills people and think if Communism actually has killed more people than Capitalism (of course most don't know true Communism hasn't happened yet).

Capitalism has killed millions because of the atom bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Only the Capitalist U.S.A. has ever dropped the nuclear bomb.

Capitalism and the greed for oil and further wealth and profit for the rich has created several wars where sometimes children in schools have been blown apart by missiles by Capitalist forces.

Capitalism used the World Trade Organization to give an unfair advantage to rich countries and businesses.

and Capitalist businesses have infiltrated Africa and taken up a large share of the business there both the WTO and business infiltration taking more potential income from less well off people and of course the ever increasing division between the rich and poor means that some people die a lot younger so in many ways Capitalism has killed umpteen million people and by it's very nature of screwing the poor and weak and making many poorer and weaker means that it forces many to suffer more from illness or stress and makes many die younger than they should do.

The sad truth is, people are ********, and as long as people want more, more people will die. If we had an almost perfect world communism, that would probably be best; however, as long as you have just that small group of greedy douchebags, things will get screwed. Just look at some of the answers on here:

"If we hadn't sent our children into mines and factories 100 years ago, today's GDP could be 1 or 2 percentage points LESS than it currently is.

And THAT would be a REAL TRAGEDY!"

Can you imagine someone saying this? An American? Maybe even a parent? WTF???

    Or this one:

"Capitalism kills off the week [sic], which ensures that the week [sic] do not procreate.

    Which makes a stronger mankind."

Of course, they KNOW they're strong; however, make the world a dog-eat-dog capitalist world, and we'd see who on this Earth is the fittest. You know it's not most Americans. First, we're soft compared to the rest of the world, who labor and toil for endless hours each day. Second, with a small percentage of people with wealth, and little regulation, most of the remaining wealth would end up with that small group. I wonder who'd be crying then, 99%.

I really have no hope for humanity.

Hard to say. You'll have to add the numbers from the three main forms of capitalism. You have western capitalism, like the US, you have state capitalism like China or the USSR and you have planned capitalism like you had in Nazi Germany. As for communism that system hasn't been tried yet. So capitalism is responsible for something like at least a 9 digit death toll and communism is responsible for zero...

Umpteen? Idiot. "Communism killed a way bunch but capitalism killed some too!"

Here's the question, How many lives have been saved and produced through the benefits that Capitalism provides? Through innovations in production. Innovation in medicine. Innovations in technology. How many lives were saved through these few examples? Now how about some examples of prosperity from ANY other economic system.

Just because you are inordinately stupid : How many millions were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

Communism as a system has never killed anyone. As has been pointed out, there has never been a communist country, which in itself would be a contradiction, as communism would be, be necessity, an international system!

For those of us who understand what these political terms mean we can only come to the conclusion that capitalism has killed hundreds of millions of people in the 400 years of it becoming the dominant sociopolitical system in the world!

I don't think that capitalism has killed anyone , its a political and social ideology used by people, who use the idea of wealth creation to enrich themselves often at the expense of others.

The death toll is tremendous, but the misery is probably worse, starving children, broken families, crumbling economies, slavery, devastation to the environment, etc.

Not saying socialism or communism is perfect, but there has gotta be a BETTER WAY.

    God bless.

Free market capitalism in the West and state capitalism in Russia and China is responsible for the bulk of violent deaths.

I consider starvation and immiseration of nations for profit as violent too!

capitalism starves a small portion of the population--this is inherent in capitalism because it is how they can keep labor costs low. So anyone starving (at least in the US) can thank capitalism for keeping them unemployed.
