It's rare but it does happen once in a blue Moon. Though usually it is because the Missionary happens to meet the person whom they met on their Mission while they both happen to be attending the same college, they start as friends, and then without realizing, one thing leads to another...

and away you go, as the saying goes.

Now days with E-Mail, and so forth and so on, perhaps more Missionaries will go through that same cycle even though they are not going to college together. You never know.

You are correct to mention that you would not pursue any untoward romance, because even seemingly innocent flirtation could get the Missionary transferred, and if that kind of flirtation is continuous or overt enough, then they are sent home.

So wait for the Mission to get over, then send E-Mails or call or what have you after the Missionary's Mission is over, and that would be great. First comes friendship, then maybe comes more. Much more. You never know, and it never hurts to have a friend or to be a friend...

after the Mission comes to an end.

Some do. My father met my mother on his mission (a reality for which we lecture him regularly), but that's no longer the purpose of a mission. Missionaries are meant to be serving the Lord and educating Christ's gospel, now not finding their future wives or husbands. It occurs in many instances, but any missionary without a doubt focusing on the work shouldn't be thinking of the opposite sex in any respect. No missionary should ever look twice at a lady unless AFTER the mission!

So they can't date while they are on their mission ! I have lived in countries far away from us, and have met a few Mormons on missions who did date during their mission and I see nothing wrong with that. There are several who did their mission in Japan and married and took their new wife home when they left to go home. Maybe no dating applies to very young persons; I have met a few

on mission who were about 17.

I've known several people that have done exactly this. It's not at all uncommon. Yes, he can go back to her after his mission.

I actually know quite a few people who married someone they met while on their mission.

Aren't the magic underwear meant to prevent this sort of things from happening in the first place?
