In contrast, I would rather live my life as if there is no god to find out there is than live my life as if there is and find out there isn't.
The reason is because there is an immensely small chance any god exists, and an even smaller chance that someone on Earth has found the right god, and an even SMALLER chance that they have the correct doctrines. Simply put, why believe in something without any evidence? The warm fuzzy idea of there being an all loving god doesn't comfort me at all, especially if it's the Abrahamic god.
Living your life free of the complications of religion feels absolutely liberating, I have no delusions, no fantasies, no misconceptions, what you see is what you get, and that should be enough without throwing gods into the mix.
Plus, since there is no evidence of a soul or an afterlife, nobody will "find out" anything after they die, you will just return to the state you were in before you were conceived: nonexistent. It's not like a Christian is gonna die and say, "Darn it, no god." They won't be saying anything, thinking anything, feeling anything, etc.
The afterlife is something people invented because they were afraid to cope with their mortality.
